Morning Chapel is Technology Driven. Technology has become a vital part of our daily lives from ATM machines on every comer to PDAs and smart phones. Everyone has contact with technology in today's world. Computer technology continues to change each second with enhancements, improvements and new products. With millions of homes having at least one computer, there are still individuals who are not equipped with the knowledge of how to use a personal computer. Morning Chapel CME Church in Fort Worth, TX, where Rev. Manuel Henderson is the pastor, has taken the initiative in bridging the technology gap by providing various computer classes and an open computer lab for the church family and the community to utilize. Morning Chapel has a fully equipped computer lab for instructional teaching and general use. All of the computer equipment was donated by two companies, church and community individuals.
The classes that have been conducted are: Introduction to Computers, Introduction and Intermediate Word, Introduction Access, and Internet Basics. Participants in the classes vary in age, from young to not so young. Each person who has participated in the classes has taken a wealth of knowledge with them which enables them to be more productive in using the computer.
The computer lab has also been incorporated with the church's vacation bible school. The lab was introduced to the children's department. The class was a hit with the children's department, they enjoyed the opportunity to use the computer and learn about the bible at the same time.
The ability to have a computer lab within the church has allowed the members to have complete access to a computer and all available resources. The computer lab is just one step in allowing the church to be a vital part of the community.
