COMMITTEE ON EPISCOPACYOF THE 2010 GENERAL CONFERENCE CALLED TO MEET NOVEMBER 6th IN WASHINGTON, D.C.


In accordance with ¶431 of The Book of Discipline, Revised 2010, of The Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Senior Bishop Paul A. G. Stewart, Sr., is calling the Committee on Episcopacy to meet immediately following the funeral of Senior Bishop Thomas L. Hoyt, Jr., in Washington, D.C. The meeting is being planned for the site of the funeral on Wednesday, November 6, 2013.

Committee members are urged to contact Wendy Casey at 704-345-3314 – immediately - to make travel arrangements.  Members are also urged to contact the offices of their presiding bishops for further information, if needed.

Services for Senior Bishop Thomas L. Hoyt, Jr.
The Homegoing Celebration for Senior Bishop Thomas L. Hoyt, Jr., will be Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. at the Cramton Auditorium, Howard University Campus, 2455 Sixth Street, N.W., Washington D.C.  Viewing will be at the Auditorium from 9:00 A.M. until time of service.

The family has also planned an abbreviated Memorial Service on Monday, November 11, 2013, at the West Side Community C.M.E. Church, 2114 Martin Luther King Drive, Atlanta, Georgia, at 11:00 A.M.  Interment will follow at the Westview Cemetery in Atlanta.

The Senior Bishop of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church Bishop Thomas Lanier Hoyt, Jr. made his transition today, Sunday, October 27, 2013, at 2:43 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.  No other information is available at this time. Our prayers continually go out for Mrs. Ocie Hoyt and the Hoyt family during this hour of bereavement.

Update on Status of Senior Bishop Thomas Hoyt, Jr.

Dear Connectional members and friends:

As you are aware, our beloved Senior Bishop and Presiding Bishop of the Seventh Episcopal District, Bishop Thomas L. Hoyt, Jr., experienced a health crisis on Sunday, September 22, 2013.  We feel it pertinent to update you on his status.

Bishop Hoyt was relocated to a healthcare facility in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, October 10, 2013.  He remains in serious condition and the family has requested no visitors, so please abide by their wishes.
