The Passing of Rev. Azarine McClellan. It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Rev. Azarine Mayes McClellan. Rev. McClellan was a strong leader and supporter of the church, serving in her local church (Lane Memorial CME, Washington, DC), the Washington-Virginia District (first female in the District to serve as District Lay Leader), the New York-Washington Region and Annual Conference, and the Connectional CME Church (attended all Connectional meetings until her health failed). As a Lay Leader, she was a world traveler, lecturer and workshop facilitator. She answered the call and was ordained to preach in the 90s. Reverend McClellan passed at 1:10 AM this morning (January 17, 2008) at The Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, where she was has been residing with her niece and caretaker, Ruby Mayes Kelly. Arrangements are pending. Final services will be held in Evansville. Mrs. Kelly's information is included here. Please pray for us, her family and friends.
